Amrita at the Global Online Laboratory Consortium at MIT, Boston

Amrita was invited to participate in the Global Online Laboratory Consortium, at MIT, Boston, which is focused on promoting the development and sharing of, and research into remotely accessible laboratories for educational use.

Participants included faculty from leading universities from Australia, Germany, South Africa, Spain, Nigeria, Uganda and many U.S. cities. The Indian representatives were Prof. Krishnashree Achuthan and Prof Prema Nedungadi of Amrita University.

Prema presented Amrita’s Collaborative Accessibility Platform that allowed the development and deployment of distributed virtual labs developed with diverse technologies and Dr. Krishnashree presented the Virtual Labs for higher education developed by Amrita

They participated in the ‘Education Committee Working Group’ meeting. Discussions centred around world-wide project deployments that benefit all participants, and the possible sharing of labs, and studies on laboratory learning pedagogy.

Amrita is working on the creating and implementing world’s largest virtual laboratory education project supported by the National Mission on Education through ICT initiative, Govt. of India spanning over multiple disciplines and in partnership with IITs and other institutes.

Amrita is also building first ever free to use, Virtual Online Labs for high schools in the country, supported by the Department of IT and in partnership with C-DAC. The labs will be mapped to CBSE curriculum which is followed by over 10,000 schools in India.
